Bernie & Kane go back to back on this hour and a bit of old Funk & Soul corkers. Corkers? Surely there is a cooler word for it than that. Anyway, check the selection! There’s a good helping of cheese (as Funk requires) from the likes of Slave and Garry Criss, along with meaty goodness from funk masters like Curtis Mayfield and Atmosfear. The latter we mistakenly name-check as Manzel, but that’s a drop in the ocean compared to some of the other shit I come out with inbetween songs. I am so, so sorry. 😉
Ever been to South America or Africa? Well you don’t have to. Get yourself a bowl full of rice and baked beans and prepare to be sonically transported with this cracking selection of afrobeat, salsa, jazz, peruvian and african funk mix by Jack newton & Bernie Steer. Infused with all sorts of goodness. Enjoy!
The second mix focuses more on some of Nat’s more Jazz orientated inspirations although it is by no means exclusively Jazz, taking in tracks from Count Ossie and Cymande too.
February’s Podacast is the first in what will be a series of takeovers by all 8 members of the Mind On Fire house band. This month is the turn of Andy, a.k.a Grave Architecture (formerly known as czuk) who takes in various sounds, ranging from Afro Beat and Techno and moving all the way through to Jazz and Dub Step.
When Mr. Gondwana, Matt Halsall dropped in on Mind On Fire recently for aninterview and to talk all things music he came bearing gifts, namely this fantastic 45 minute mix of Jazz, Soul and Funk music. You would be daft not to download this and get it on your stereo in double quick time. Nuff said!
